We're a newly formed org within Guest & Host that brings together identity and commerce foundations under one roof. Our mission is to move Airbnb beyond the transaction — building a world where accounts create trust, value sticks, and the benefits our community earns travel with them, and their businesses, wherever they go. You'll work closely with Payments and Wallet engineering, Identity & Privacy, Profile & Community, and Guest & Host product, design, and data science partners as we stand up this team's roadmap and technical foundations. The Difference You Will Make: As a Software Engineer on the Web team within Passport & Commerce, you will build the web experiences that bring various account features to life for millions of guests and hosts. You'll own well-scoped features from technical design through launch, working closely with your backend, iOS, Android, and design counterparts. Success in this role looks like shipping reliable, performant, and polished web experiences that keep parity with our iOS and Android surfaces, growing your ownership over time as the web presence for this team expands, and becoming a dependable contributor the team can count on to deliver. A Typical Day: Design and build web features using modern, component-driven React and TypeScript Partner with product and design to turn new concepts into polished, accessible web experiences Collaborate with backend, iOS, and Android engineers to keep feature behavior and data consistent across platforms Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code, and actively participate in code and design reviews Learn from and collaborate with senior engineers on the team, and contribute to shared web patterns and best practices as the team scales Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance, and reliability issues affecting the web app Your Expertise: 3+ years of professional front-end/web engineering experience, including shipping features in a large-scale, production consumer web application Proficiency in TypeScript and React (or a comparable modern framework), including component-driven architecture, state management, and data-fetching patterns (e.g., GraphQL) Experience working with backend and other platform (iOS and Android) engineers to integrate APIs and keep cross-platform experiences consistent A track record of delivering features from technical design through launch and iteration, with growing scope and independence Strong communication and collaboration skills, and a habit of seeking and acting on feedback Comfort operating with some ambiguity, including on a newly formed team establishing new surfaces for the first time Solid understanding of web performance, accessibility (WCAG), responsive design, and CI/deployment practices for a large-scale consumer site Your Location: This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
