Squarespace is looking for a Director, Corporate Communications to own and lead the company’s internal and external communications functions.
This leader will set the communications strategy and operating priorities, advise executive leadership, shape the company narrative, and build scalable programs that strengthen employee understanding, company reputation, and business outcomes. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution and requires strong judgment, excellent writing, and the ability to influence across the organization.
This is a hybrid role working from our NYC office 3 days per week. You will report to the General Counsel.
You’ll Get To…
Own the company's communications strategy
Develop and maintain a consistent narrative that works across both consumer and B2B audiences
Serve as the primary communications advisor to the executive team and help prepare leadership for media, speaking, and investor-facing engagements
Build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and producers across tech, business, and vertical press
Drive proactive story placement and manage inbound opportunities
Draft press materials including releases, media pitches, briefings, and contributed articles
Develop strategy and execute Communications initiatives in select jurisdictions outside the United States
Manage reactive and crisis communications
Partner closely with Product and Marketing to develop launch plans for new features, products, brand campaigns, and company milestones
Translate technical and product information into clear, newsworthy narratives for diverse audiences
Support leadership communications, including internal announcements and external thought leadership
Plan and execute quarterly company All Hands meetings
Develop an internal communications cadence that keeps employees informed and engaged
Manage company intranet content and presentation
Manage agency relationships and external vendors as needed
Track and report on communications KPIs and coverage metrics
Who We’re Looking For
10+ years of communications experience, with meaningful time in-house at a technology company (agency experience a plus)
Proven ability to own a communications function independently, ideally at a high-growth company
Experience communicating across both consumer and B2B audiences
Strong media relationships in tech, business and consumer press, with a track record of earned coverage
Excellent writer and editor with the ability to make complex technical and business topics clear, compelling, and accessible
Comfortable operating at the strategic level while still being willing to draft a pitch, prep a spokesperson, or update a press kit yourself
Experience supporting executive communications and thought leadership programs
Strong judgment and calm decision-making under pressure, including the ability to make recommendations with incomplete information.
Team player who collaborates naturally across functions without needing a formal mandate

Cash Compensation Range: $203,500 - $327,750 USD
